Frist-Person Perspective on Dementia

Ever wondered what dementia is like from the perspective of someone going through it?

my dementia

A stunning essay on dementia. The author compares her own experience of “dementing” in her 60’s to that of her mother’s undiagnosed parallel journey, along with references to the great brain of Einstein. Pre-dementia, this woman sounds like an inspiration: after a life in the corporate world, she did a 180 and went back to school for her PhD to pursue a more fulfilling career at a university. In light of her diagnosis and subsequent mental deterioration, she becomes even more remarkable. Though a long read, it is well worth it for the insight it gives into a truly tough mind and spirit. She has achieved more while going through dementia than many of us every will with totally healthy brains.
